As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to think differently about romantic relationships. I don’t believe we’re meant to stay with one person forever—we all change all of the time and it would be unrealistic to believe the person you committed to ten or twenty years ago is going to compliment that. (I know, I know, Howard and Mildred from up the road got married during World War I and they’ve been happy together forever because they “never go to bed on an argument” or something. I’m not saying I’m right… I’m just saying what I’ve realised is true for me.)
However, with all of that said, I would like to have a significant other in my life on the understanding that: a) our pairing probably won’t last forever, b) I don’t want us to live together, and c) I don’t want to see you every day. Oh and, crucially, I want someone to want me, WHO I WANT. I don’t need anyone… but I do want someone.
