Avoid Excessive Cleavage Podcast Episode 2: Sarah Riches
I always wanted to be a singer… preferably a country singer. There’s something about a pedal steel that makes me so happy. Also, any average looking person can put on a Stetson and become 5000% more attractive. I don’t know the science behind it, it‘s just true. I met Sarah Riches last year at a Craig Gould and the Noble Thieves gig: a wonderful folk band who were celebrating some amazing achievements.
I was hosting the evening but frankly I was superfluous. The evening was awesome and Dan Sealey (Ocean Colour Scene) who was also performing at that evening, went ahead and introduced himself whilst I’d taken myself off to powder my nose. Utterly superfluous.
Meeting Sarah was more than an extra added bonus. We’d both attended alone and ended up sitting together, chatting all things country. Sarah’s album, I Don’t Give Up Easily, is just gorgeous. Think Carpenters meets Olivia Newton John meets… well… Sarah Riches. It’s on Spotify, Apple and all the other usual places. Have a listen.
Sarah and I have become firm friends since then and I cannot believe that our friendship has not yet reached its one year anniversary. Sometimes you just click with a person, right?
Sarah and I chatted about going into this whole entertainment malarkey as “slightly older ladies” (I make us sound like we’re shuffling around on Zimmer frames, I know) and whether that makes any real difference. I hope there is stuff in here to make you smile. I certainly did.
