Jules O’Brian is on her own middle–age crusade to silence unsolicited advice, such as “avoid excessive cleavage”. Presenting her one–woman comedy night, Avoid excessive cleavage (and other advice to ignore) Jules will appear at Christopher’s, Tamworth, for one night only on Thursday 4 April 2024. Jules is in her 50s now, and the “helpful” advice about everything she should and shouldn’t be doing just keeps on coming. Whether it’s being advised what not to wear; being advised that you’re never too old and it’s never too late; being advised to use magic sticky tape to disguise droopy jowls; or being advised to join dating sites for people who are apparently hurtling towards their imminent death, Jules has had enough. Accompanied by a (life–sized cardboard cut–out of) Liz Hurley, and her trusty friend, Pinot, Jules emphatically says “NO”! She invites you to join her in this hysterically funny one night only show. (Please note: people under fifty will find it funny too—Jules also used to be young… ’though she didn’t always have a cleavage). Jules is a rising star in British comedy. Her influences range from comedy legends of yesteryear to modern favourites like Katherine Ryan. She was nominated for the Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent award in 2022 and shortlisted for Funny Women 2023. She has mastered the art of blending a sense of youthful innocence with the darkness of mid–life crisis. Don’t miss your chance to laugh at life in this intimate show.
